Aíto García Reneses is in isolation at his home in Berlin after testing positive for COVID-19 in a routine test on December 24. Alba Berlin’s Spanish coach, who turned 74 on December 20, is among the risk groups. He has no symptoms of the disease, but as reported by the German club, he is under “close medical surveillance.”
The German team, which had played its last game on the Real Madrid pitch last Tuesday, has suspended the League match that was due to play this Saturday against Syntainics MBC.
His next match is in the Euroleague , on Tuesday in Berlin, against Zalgiris Kaunas on the 17th and last day of the first round of the regular season. Alba Berlin is in 13th position in the European tournament standings, with six wins and nine losses.
All the players, technicians and members of the Alba Berlin squad have tested negative for covid-19, but all of them have decided to isolate themselves following the precautionary measures prescribed by the health authorities.
All of them will be subjected to new tests this Sunday. The German team already suffered an outbreak of the disease in October when seven players tested positive.

Himar Ojeda, technical secretary of the German club, managed to sign him in 2017 after a career in which he trained Joventut, Barça, Unicaja, Sevilla and Gran Canaria.
In the 2018-2019 season he was a finalist in the Eurocup with Alba, which he qualified to play in the Euroleague after four years of absence from the competition.
